Normally when we ask a question as part of a headline, we provide the answer almost immediately.

And while I can tell you the technical answer from the umpire, I still really can't tell you why University of Washington baseball player Will Simpson was ejected from the Huskies' win over Santa Clara on Monday.

I mean, not many people can. Let's take a look at what happened (click here if you don’t see the tweet below):

Simpson hits a home run, which is always fun, but this was extra significant because it brought UW back from a 6-2 deficit to tie the game. The Huskies would eventually win 10-7.

The video shows Simpson round the bases at a humble pace. There are mild celebrations, but who wouldn't celebrate?

The point is something in that video prompted his ejection from the game for “excessive celebration."

Yes, he was ejected.

The most emotion was when Simpson was pointing at his chest, which was pointing specifically at "Washington" on his uniform - a nice team gesture, as most would interpret.

Hardly grounds for ejection, and most people on social media agree, including the Huskies’ social media account.

While the baseball world continues to be baffled by the ejection, the Huskies did earn the win. That 10-7 victory was enough to propel the team to a four-game series split with Santa Clara and a 2-2 record on the young season.
